The public administration training program is set within the context of contemporary political, social, economic, and administrative environment. The program key objectives include the following:

  • Share ideas, strategies and tools to plan, design and manage development and reform initiatives in relevant sectors
  • Create a work-based project to help candidates develop strategic initiatives based on their unique set of issues, resources and business environment

The training program consists of modular public policy and management seminars for developing managerial performance in the following key areas:

  1. The changing landscape and role of public policy managers and civic leaders

  2. Review and comparison of new policy innovations and how they may apply to national, state and city governments

  3. Pragmatic innovation solutions. How do government policies impact the well-being of its citizens? What are the potential blind spots or unintended consequences?

  4. Analyze development policies with case studies on latest development frameworks and measurement tools such as Gross National Wellbeing (GNW) and Gross National Development (GND).

  5. Review the investment allocation framework for limited budgets and competing public sector projects

  6. Examine policy development, implementation, and evaluation best practices with a focus on strategic public innovations

  7. Learn how to implement strategic change, how to launch and sustain nation-wide strategic initiatives, and what is the role of government support and regulatory frameworks.

  8. Action-Learning Project: A Country or an Agency Action Plan. In this module, the delegates will discuss and apply the learned new concepts, policy tools, and best practices to their own country or government agency context. The course advisor will facilitate the group project and help the delegates design or customize the innovative solutions, new policy actions, and strategic plans for their country, state, or city of choice.

Performance Evaluation

  • Performance can be evaluated on the basis of individual or team project deliverables

  • There are no Q&A exams or tests. Candidates can choose to complete customized experiential work-based projects such as developing a relevant analysis document, management strategy, action plan or a senior management presentation

  • The program advisor will review the deliverables and provide improvement feedback. The evaluation is a form of management consulting and experiential coaching for performance improvement
